Waiting Women

Long long ago...

a weary woman went to the well

vexed with her worthless life to quench her thirst

what a surprise she had  when the Messiah she met

who gave her Living water

turning her into an evangelist.

one bleary bleeding woman

desperate for a cure

jostled through thick throng to touch

his tunic just the hem

behold her joy when he turns around to say:

“Daughter, your faith has healed you.”

one woman bent like a bow

whose eyes could only see things below

dreamed of the day a person face to face to see when

someone touches her shoulder

the crooked body straightens out

ecstatic she stands tall to gaze into

the Saviour’s face!

one woman delivered from certain captivity

loved him much

faithfully followed believed every word

broken-hearted wept  inconsolably at his grave

breathtaking joy she experiences when

the risen Lord himself appeared to her first!

Today... Women

of all tongues nations tribes are

waiting waiting waiting

to break free from the shackles of

tradition

to empower the church;

remember we are set free from

every bondage like these ancient sisters.
